Canadian Press PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Flyers loaded up on prospects a day after staying quiet at the NHL trade deadline.
The Flyers passed on landing a veteran goalie, leaving the job to Michael Leighton. Now comes the tough part: Leighton must be a difference maker during a playoff chase, Wes Goldstein says.
The Philadelphia Flyers signed prospects Eric Wellwood, Luke Pither and Shane Harper to future contracts, which will begin at the start of next season, the club announced Thursday.
Mike Richards hit David Booth with this questionable high hit to the face on October 24th, 2009. The hit by Richards cost the Florida Panthers forward 45 games and a shot at making the USA Olympic team. While I’ve always laughed that off, Wednesday night’s game was another example of that supposed curse.After coming up short in their (reported) attempts to acquire a goaltender at the trade deadline, you just knew Michael Leighton would come up small when the Flyers took the ice against a weak Panthers team.
